The Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce has hired two new staff members. ALEX GUARDIOLA has been hired as director of government affairs and public policy. He is a Worcester native and alumni of Saint John’s High School in Shrewsbury, University Of New Hampshire, and New England School of Law in Boston. He previously worked for UMass Medical School/Commonwealth Medicine’s Center for Healthcare Finance. NICHOLAS TROTTO is the new marketing and communications assistant. Trotto, who attended Fitchburg State University, began at the chamber as a full-time summer intern.

MICHAEL SAUVAGEAU has been re-elected as chairman of the Leominster Credit Union board of directors, RICHARD SHEPPARD as its vice chairman and GIULIO G. GRECO its clerk. NANCY GRAVES has been made the board’s new treasurer, replacing Andrew Cousins, who retired this year. Six others have been re-elected to the 2018-19 board: AMEDEO E. BILOTTA, BRUCE J. BOLLIVAR, JOYCE G. LEGER, HENRY C. KULIK JR., JOYCE A. LAFLEUR and JOSEPH V. QUINTAL. NANCY DUBE, who served on the bank’s advisory committee, was elected to the board to replace Cousins. 

Harrington Physician Services has hired three new doctors to its staff. ALIREZA NEZHAD, a cardiologist, has joined the office at 79 Sayles St. in Southbridge. Nezhad received his medical degree from Shiraz University of Medical Sciences in Iran and completed both his internal medicine residency and fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at Saint Vincent Hospital. JEFFREY GORDON has joined The Cancer Center at Harrington at 55 Sayles St. in Southbridge to provide oncology and hematology care. Gordon, a Worcester native, received his medical degree from Brandeis University in Waltham and completed his fellowship in oncology and hematology at UMass Medical Center, where he completed his residency and internship in internal medicine. SHANNON SHORT has joined Harrington’s office at 255 E. Old Sturbridge Road in Brimfield. Short, who practices family medicine, received her medical degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency at the Puget Sound Family Medicine Residency Program in Washington, as well as an internship in pediatrics at Naval Medical Center in San Diego. She was most recently at Hartford HealthCare Medical Group, where she started two new practice locations and supervised midlevel providers.

LORI E. LOMBARD has joined UniBank Fiscal Advisory Services Inc., a subsidiary of UniBank, as vice president and senior fiscal advisor. Lombard provides financial advisory services to cities, towns and regional school districts in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. She has more than 30 years of experience in financial advising, having previously worked for Eastern Bank and State Street Bank & Trust Co.

ROBERT A. HOBBS is the new chief information officer for Community Health Connections in Fitchburg, where he first joined the health center as an information-technology systems manager. Hobbs previously served as CEO of Alpha NetSolutions and has close to 15 years of healthcare experience, including management positions at Cigna and Healthsource Central Massachusetts Health Care. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Worcester State University.

MEGAN J. BLOMGREN BURGESS is the new director of education and community engagement for Preservation Worcester. Blomgren Burgess, a Worcester resident, previously worked at the Worcester Art Museum. She has a bachelor’s degree in history from Assumption College and is working toward a master’s degree in public history from the University of Southern New Hampshire.

JOSEPH E. BAKAYSA of Lunenburg has rejoined Provo Wealth Management Group in Shrewsbury as an investment executive. Bakaysa spent the last five years at Citizens Bank, where he provided wealth advice and insight to private clients. He graduated from Bentley University in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in finance.
