Detox facility opening in Millbury

Photo/Google Sunrise Detox plans to open at 29 N. Main St. in Millbury next month, with a capacity of up to 39 individuals seeking detox.

A substance abuse treatment facility will open next month in Millbury with a capacity to treat up to 39 individuals with drug or alcohol addiction.

Sunrise Detox has scheduled an open house from 11 a.m to 2 p.m. on Oct. 9 and plans to open by later next month. The center is located at 29 N. Main St.

Sunrise Detox will have single- and double-occupancy rooms for patients being treated with medical detox, said Kate Toomey, the facility's business development representative.

"We work with the patient from day one to place them in the appropriate level of care after completion of detox," she said.

Duration of the program typically lasts five days for those with alcohol addiction, around seven for opioid addiction and as long as 10 or 12 days for other cases, Toomey said.

The 18,000-square-foot facility will treat patients facing alcohol and drug addiction. Sunrise Detox also has locations in Georgia, Florida and New Jersey, and plans to open another new location next year in New York.
