Karyn Polito, Worcester County Sheriff and Chairman of the Massport Board of Directors Lew Evangelidis and MassPort CEO Thomas Glynn.

Twice-daily flights from Worcester to Philadelphia via American Airlines will begin Thursday.

The first flight will depart at 6:18 am. and arrive in Philadephia at 7:09 a.m. Another flight is scheduled for 4:19 p.m., arriving in the City of Brotherly Love at 5:10 p.m.

Coming home, flights depart Philadelphia at 2:55 p.m. and 9:29 p.m., arriving in Worcester at 3:50 p.m. and 10:24 p.m., respectively.

Worcester Regional Airport, MassPort and American Airlines announced the new flight in April, which became the fourth major route to fly out of Worcester, announcing just one flight to start.

In June, American Airlines added a second flight to the route.

Delta Airlines next year will become the third year-round commercial airline to fly out of Worcester beginning next August with nonstop flights to Detroit.

Currently, JetBlue offers flights from Worcester to New York City, Orlando and Fort Lauderdale.
