Fallon executive to chair Becker board

Becker College in Worcester has named a new chair of its board of trustees and brought four new members to the 15-person board.

Christine Cassidy, a 2014 graduate and the senior vice president and chief communications officer at Worcester insurer Fallon Health, is the board's new chairwoman. She was first appointed to the board in 2015 and previously served as vice chair.

Cassidy, who graduated summa cum laude from Becker with a bachelor's degree in business administration, replaces Jay DiGeronimo Jr.

Becker also appointed four new trustees at its Oct. 5 meeting, it announced Wednesday:

— Edward Wilson, the co-founder, CFO and publisher of Wilson Language Training Corp. Wilson and his wife, Barbara, founded the company in 1985. The company helps educators with literacy, including for those with dyslexia. Ed and Barbara Wilson received honorary degrees from Becker in 2010.
— Daniel DelMastro, a 1970 graduate of Becker predecessor Leicester Junior College, the founder and president of Aero-Med Ltd., a disposable medical and dental equipment supplier in Glastonbury, Conn. DelMastro founded the company in 1985 and has grown it to include warehouses in Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Nevada and Texas.
— Gregory Pogue, also a 1970 graduate of Becker Junior College, and the vice president and chief human resources officer at the College of New Jersey, where he is responsible for policy, procedures, compliance, and equal-opportunity and diversity hiring. Pogue received an honorary degree from Becker earlier this year.
— Rebecca Crocker, a Worcester native now in Florida who previously served as a corporator for Becker. Crocker was the corporator at the Worcester Art Museum and a court-appointed special advocate in the Worcester Juvenile Court System, and served on several boards in the community including for the UMass Memorial Medical Center.
