Dagilis to retire from Worcester community council in May

Jill Dagilis

Worcester Community Action Council Executive Director Jill Dagilis will retire on May 31, the agency announced Thursday.

She’s led WCAC since 2006.

"It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as the executive director of Worcester Community Action Council", said Dagilis in a statement. "Every day I am inspired by WCAC's mission and our efforts to help people in need move to economic self-sufficiency."

The former city health and human services official who spent 24 years working for the city said she’ll work with the organization's board of directors, staff and public partners and funders to ensure a smooth transition.

“I have dedicated my professional and volunteer service to the people and communities in this region,” she said. “I am now looking forward to spending time with family and pursuing my other interests."

Dagilis was honored as a WBJ Power 50 in 2018 and as an Outstanding Woman in Business in 2010.

In addition to leading WCAC, Dagilis is the chairwoman of the Worcester Business Development Corp. and vice-chairwoman for the Massachusetts Community Action Partner.
