Worcester, Fitchburg organizations get $150K to create 25 sober housing units

Two Central Massachusetts sober housing organizations are getting $75,000 each from MassHousing to create new affordable units for men in recovery.

The quasi-public state agency’s nonprofit subsidiary Center for Community Recovery Innovations, Inc. issued the grants Monday to 11 different Massachusetts organizations. Nearly $700,000 was awarded throughout the state.

In Worcester, the Latin American Health Alliance was awarded its share of the grant to provide a down payment on financing to acquire Casa Colon, which will create 11 units of affordable sober housing for men.

In Fitchburg, South Middlesex Non-Profit Housing Corp. is spending its $75,000 grant to create 14 new units of affordable housing.
