Uxbridge land trust fined $54K for wetland violations

The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection has fined a land trust in Uxbridge $54,600 for violating state wetlands regulations.

Cnossen Realty Trust was hit with the fine for alleged infractions at property off of Commerce Drive.

The state began investigating at the request of the Uxbridge Conservation Commission and found the trust had cleared and altered more than two acres of land in the floodplain and more than an acre of vegetated wetlands within a protected species habitat without a town permit.

To settle the violations, Cnossen Realty Trust has agreed to restore the altered wetland resource areas, pursue certification of potential vernal pools in the altered area and pay the full penalty.
