Amy Lynn Chase, owner of Crompton Collective in Worcester, is opening another retail store in Crompton Place.

The store, to be called Haberdash, will sell many of the same kind of items as Chase’s Hudson store of the same name, but will be about double the size and allow for more clothing, shoes and accessories, Chase said.

Chase will hire up to two new employees to help run the small store in the Canal District building, she said.

According to Chase, she has been thinking about opening a clothing store in Worcester for years, but could never find the right location.

“The perfect location to me means walkability, good restaurants, and neighbors that own other creative small businesses,” she said.

A 1,600-square-foot space in the building previously occupied by a salon recently became available upstairs from Crompton Collective and across from plant store Seed to Stem.

Due to the large customer following of Chase’s store in Worcester, she passed up other opportunities around Central Massachusetts and opted to stay in the city.

“The Canal District is a destination, and I personally think it's important to add value to the city that you live in,” she said.

Chase, citing her retail experience, didn't rule out opening another store in the near future.

"I've been in retail for 22 years, I know the industry extremely well and would never pass up a smart business opportunity," she said.
