Middlesex bank donates $100K to Discovery Museum

Middlesex Savings Bank President and CEO Mike McAuliffe and Discovery Museum CEO Neil Gordon cut a ribbon to celebrate the opening of the Velocity! exhibit on January 12 in the Middlesex Savings Bank Community Gallery at the museum. The Bank and Museum announced a $100,000 sponsorship of the Museum by Middlesex Savings Bank at the event.

Middlesex Savings Bank in Natick has given $100,000 to the new Discovery Museum in Acton.

The museum reopened in March 2018 after an $8.8-million renovation doubling the size of the original museum.

Middlesex is the main sponsor of the Community Gallery, a 1,200-square-foot exhibit space designed to host a series of rotating exhibits and community events.

The bank, its charitable foundation and the museum have been partners since 2011, with the bank funding free admission on Friday nights and supporting fundraising and speaker events.

Middlesex was the first corporate funder in 2014 to join the museum’s fundraising campaign for the renovation, with gifts totaling $100,000.

“Middlesex Bank has been an impactful supporter of the museum for many years, and this latest gift underscores the bank’s deep commitment to investing in the community we both serve,” said Discovery Museum CEO Neil Gordon in a press release.

In a statement, Middlesex Savings Bank CEO Mike McAuliffe called the funding an investment in the children and families of the area.

“Community support is at the heart of our charitable investments, and we view Discovery Museum as a tremendous community asset,” he said. “We are thrilled to support their work to support kids’ informal learning through play.”
