Natural rubber latex firm Vystar, headed by Steve Rotman, is resuming the production of an air purifier about nine months after it acquired the technology.

Vystar, which relocated to Worcester in December 2017 after Rotman was named CEO, acquired the Rx3000 RxAir purifier from UV Flu of Illinois for just under $1 million in May.

At the time, Rotman said Vystar will continue production of UV Flu’s products, but will take about 90 days to complete manufacturing of the next orders and another 45 days to relaunch sales.

Production of the Rx3000, however, stopped before the acquisition, the company said.

Vystar said the Rx3000 is priced at less than $5,000 per unit and can service up to 3,000 square feet. The company acquired the equipment to make custom filters for the purifier, which retail for $8,000.

Products are expected to be made available to hospitals by the second quarter.
