Auburn, Solomon Pond malls to sell marijuana products

The Auburn Mall and Solomon Pond Mall in Marlborough will soon open kiosks offering CBD products from Ohio-based cannabis firm Green Growth Brands.

The company, publicly traded on the Canadian Stock Exchange, said last week it has entered into an agreement with the Simon Property Group to gain access to 108 U.S. mall locations.  The kiosks could begin sales by the middle of the 2019.

CBD, or cannabidiol, is the non-psychoactive element of the cannabis plant associated with several health benefits.

Products will be marketed under the company’s Seventh Sense Botanical Therapy brand, according to a press release from Green Growth Brands.

“Our partnership with Simon allows GGB to launch our brands and CBD products in premier shopping destinations across the U.S.,” said Peter Horvath, CEO of GGB, in a statement. “Our management team has had decades of experience working closely with developers and operating premium retail stores in their properties.”

In conjunction with the announcement, Green Growth Brands has issued Simon’s Canadian subsidiary just over $2.2 million worth of the company’s shares and 1 million common share price warrants.

In another move, the company has issued another $2.2 million in shares to Authentic Retail Concepts for consulting services.

Green Growth Brands has not yet submitted adult-use cannabis applications to the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission, but in December announced the acquisition of Just Health LLC, which holds provisional authorization for a medical dispensary and cultivation facility in Northampton.
