3cross to close Worcester taproom

Worcester’s only community-owned brewing company, 3cross Fermentation Cooperative, is closing its Knowlton Avenue taproom.

The brewery said on Facebook it is now searching for a new home in the city, but will still be able to produce and distribute beer at the location in the interim.

The last day for growler fills and can sales at the brewery is Thursday.

The brewery did not give any reason for the closure but has posted several times in February about an ongoing plumbing issue in the building. For several weeks, the brewery has only been offering can sales and growler fills at the location.

In an email, Owner Dave Howland would say only facility issues have forced the brewery to discontinue sales at the location, but will utilize its growing wholesale network and as-announced can releases at the brewery.

At closing, the brewery had seven beers on tap and distributed to three restaurants and eight liquor stores.
