AMA Sets Legislative Agenda

06/16/08

The American Medical Association is expected to begin voting on a slate of proposals that will guide the group's political agenda.

Among matters up for a vote are guidelines for "medical tourism," "secret shopper patients" and covering the uninsured. The association will also release its first National Health Insurer Report Card on how the nation's largest insurers could improve the way they pay claims.

The AMA's policy meeting began in Chicago Saturday and is scheduled to continue through Wednesday. The AMA is the country's largest physician organization.
