Economy Takes Bite Out Of National Dentex Profits

National Dentex Corp., a Natick-based operator of dental laboratories, reported second quarter net income of $1.9 million on revenue of $44.6 million.

For the same quarter last year, the company reported revenue of $44.4 million and net income of $2.4 million. The company said the laboratory segment of the dental industry is "struggling with uncertain economic conditions." Many customers, Dentex said, are putting off dental care.

National Dentex provides laboratory services to 24,000 dentists through 47 laboratories in 31 states and one Canadian province.
