Zipcars Available To WPI Staff, Students

08/26/08

Worcester Polytechnic Institute says it has formed a partnership with Cambridge-based Zipcar to provide two hybrid cars to WPI faculty, staff and students.

Beginning this week, two 2008 Honda Civic hybrid cars will be available for WPI use 24 hours a day. Users of the cars will be charged an hourly rate, but gas, maintenance, insurance and reserved parking are included in that rate.

The university said bringing Zipcar to campus is a way to encourage students to leave their personal cars at home during the school year and to "make sustainable transportation choices."

Zipcar provides "car sharing" services in several cities around the world.
