Career highlights:

As director of finance, I am responsible for the day-to-day financial operations for Vanguard Physician Services (this includes St. Vincent Physician Services and MetroWest Physician Services). I work closely with senior level management at the national, regional and local hospital levels to ensure accurate and timely financial management and reporting. In addition, I am involved in long-term strategic planning initiatives and the tactical implementation necessary to ensure the financial viability for the various physician practices.

Community involvement:

I feel it is very important to participate in volunteer opportunities, giving back to the community whenever possible. In my free time, I choose to volunteer at my daughters’ school, St. Mary’s, in various capacities.

I find it particularly fulfilling to get involved both directly with the children and also with the faculty. Additionally, I am a corporator at BayState Savings Bank. I act as a liaison between the community and the bank.

Biggest professional success:

I set two goals combining professional and personal objectives. First, I sought to build an expansive knowledge base focused on healthcare administration and finance and in doing so, achieved significant milestones in my career. Secondly, I felt it was important to maintain a balance between my professional career and family. I worked extremely hard to pursue both my career and family objectives always certain that one was not at the expense of the other.

Dream job:

My dream job is to be the owner and operator of my own gourmet wine and cheese shop.

Businessperson you admire most:

My dad, Robert P. Powers, is the businessperson I admire most because he always set a very high standard of excellence for me and my sisters. Throughout my life, he has been supportive of the decisions that I have made and everything I have pursued. He has set a great example by achieving success both professionally and personally. In addition to raising five daughters, he owns and operates his own business.

Favorite movie:

“Castaway,” starring Tom Hanks, because he overcame tremendous challenges.
