Shrewsbury Club Changes Hands

Darline Thorp Yatim and Adam Healy recently purchased the Shrewsbury Health and Racquet Club business at 3 Tennis Dr. in Shrewsbury for an undisclosed sum, according to Yatim.

The purchase occurred last week, when the partners bought it from Justin Lundberg, who also owns a health club in Westborough, she said.

Yatim has been a fitness teacher in local health clubs for years, and began working for the Shrewsbury club once Lundberg bought it.

She and Nathan Sorenson, owner of Hit Quarters, a sports training facility located at the health club, bought the Tennis Drive building on June 10 for $2.4 million through their company, Shrewsbury Sports Center LLC, according to records at the Southern Worcester County Registry of Deeds.

"We knew this was diamond-in-the-rough," Yatim said of the club. "At one time, years ago, this was the place to be."

The sports camp run by Hit Quarters and the tennis and swimming camp at the health club will be combined this year, she said.

She said the club will be tripling the size available for child care, and reopening the existing lounge while adding food.

"We think they're will be something for everyone," Yatim said.
