The population in Milford increased by 1.4 percent between 2000 and 2007, up from 26,880 to 27,263.

Its unemployment rate almost doubled from 4.9 percent in 2008 to 8.2 percent. But it's still faring better than the region, which has an average unemployment rate of 8.6 percent.
