Startup Acquires Established Home Manufacturer

11/20/09

Trudeau Homes International, an Acton-based startup company that formed in July, recently purchased the Acorn Deck House Co., a manufacturer of prefabricated homes, for an undisclosed sum.

Acorn, which was founded in 1947, was previously owned by Empyrean International, but the company went out of business in October 2008 after Empyrean folded due to the housing crisis.

Under the new parent company, Acorn Deck House's three brands-Acorn Homes, Deck Houses and NextHouse-have been resurrected, said CEO Tom Trudeau in a press release. He also said that he has streamlined and reorganized the builder's manufacturing process.
