Caliper, French Firm Partner For Research Outsourcing

Hopkinton-based Caliper Life Sciences has partnered with Prestwick Chemical of France to offer a customized chemical and biology program to drug researchers.

Through a non-exclusive marketing agreement, Caliper's contract research unit, Caliper Discover Alliances & Services, and Prestwick plan to offer chemistry and biology screening and profiling to drug discovery research and pre-clinical biology programs.

Caliper said the outsourcing of medicinal chemistry and biology processes is increasingly common among pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies keen on reducing costs and accelerating the pace of clinical research.

Financial terms of the Caliper/Prestwick partnership were not disclosed.
