Big Brothers Awarded Grants For Local Programs

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Massachusetts/MetroWest has received five grants totaling $105,000 to support programs in local communities.

According to the organization, the Amelia Peabody Foundation of Wellesley awarded the agency $35,000 for programs at the Great Brook Valley Boys and Girls Club in Worcester.

The agency also was awarded $25,000 by the Albert W. Rice Foundation for Worcester-area programs; $15,000 from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation; $15,000 from Liberty Mutual for school and site-based programs and $15,000 from Unum for mentoring programs.

The agency serves about 1,150 children in Central Massachusetts and anticipates serving 1,500 by 2012.

This is GREAT news and well deserved for such a wonderful organization and an absolute top notch staff at the Worcester & Framingham offices. As a "Big" for BBBS for the past six years, I know how much these dollars are needed. Congrats to Ben & Staff!!!
