Littleton Ringtone Maker Reports Quarterly Profit

LiveWire Mobile, a Littleton-based mobile phone products company, announced a preliminary $1.5 million profit for the fourth quarter.

The company makes mobile phone ringtones and has an online store from which customers can download music and videos for their cell phones.

Revenues increased from $3.6 million in the fourth quarter of 2008 to $4.3 million. Revenue was down from $4.9 million in the third quarter, however.

Year-over-year revenue increases allowed the company to turn a $16.6 million loss in the fourth quarter of 2008 into to a $1.5 million profit during the same quarter of 2009.

For the full year, the company reported a preliminary loss of about $2.8 million compared to a $38.1 million loss in 2008.
