BJ’s Moving To Former National Grid Complex In Westborough

BJ's Wholesale Club is moving its headquarters from Natick to the former National Grid office complex at 25 Research Drive in Westborough, the discount retailer confirmed.

Kelly McFalls, company spokesman, said BJ's is currently spread across five office buildings on Mercer Road in Natick and is running out of space.

"We're bursting at the seams," she said.

In order to accommodate the company's more than 1,000 workers, BJ's will move to the two-building Westborough site by early 2011. The company's lease on the Mercer Road complex is up at the end of 2010.

BJ's will lease the new office space from National Grid, which vacated the site and moved to Waltham last year.

Earlier this month, BJ's CFO Fran Forward said the timing of the move allows the company to take advantage of a favorable real estate market. "I don't want to mention the square footage rent, but it's going to be a lot less than what we're paying now," he said.
