Starrett Adds Board Position, Member

The board of directors of The L.S. Starrett Co., the Athol-based precision tool manufacturer, voted to increase the size of its board from seven to eight seats and has named a new member.

David Lemoine, 62, is a former partner at Deloitte & Touche LLP in Boston, an audit, consulting and financial advisory firm. L.S. Starrett noted in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that it considered Lemoine's accounting expertise and business experience valuable for the board. Lemoine retired from Deloitte in May.

The board is likely to name Lemoine to some committee assignments at its next annual stockholders meeting in October.
