09/08/10

Worcester's World Energy Solutions Inc., has signed a five-year, multimillion dollar energy services contract with the General Services Administration, which handles more than $24 billion in federal assets.

World Energy Solutions, an energy management firm, has been working with the GSA since 2001.

This new contract was competitively bid and won by World Energy Solutions. Specific financial terms of the contract were not provided by the company. The contract begins in October and runs for five years with an option for another five-year renewal.

The GSA's Energy Division handles energy procurement and management for more than 30 federal government agencies, including the Environmental Protection Agency, the Federal Aviation Administration, the Internal Revenue Service, the National Park Service and others.

Since 2001, World Energy Solutions has helped the GSA acquire more than 11 billion kilowatt hours of electricity.
