Over the course of her leadership, Carla McCall has built a forward-thinking, innovative accounting firm with a strong client base and a focus on community giving, all while being a trailblazer in the industry.
Creativity, emotional intelligence, and humor are intrinsic to the work McCall does leading the largest Metrowest accounting firm of 325 employees.
“Those traits … have allowed me to build rapport with people, build influence, and lead this firm from $16 million in revenue in 2011 to $63 million in 2023,” McCall said.
The Westborough-based company in 2023 celebrated 50 years in business. Last year, it was also named a Top 100 Accounting firm by INSIDE Public Accounting, an Indiana consulting company adviseing certified public accounting firms. McCall has been lauded by her peers for her leadership in the still male-dominated profession, being named one of the Most Powerful Women in the Accounting Profession in 2021, 2022, and 2023 by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and CPA Practice Advisor magazine
Central Massachusetts has been a strong home base from which to build, McCall said. With offices in Boston and Waltham, AAFCPAs has an esteemed client base driving referrals worldwide.
Joining the firm in 1995, McCall had a major interest in nonprofit auditing, and half of her employees today are focused on serving nonprofit clients. Though the firm provides comprehensive tax, auditing, compliance, consulting and wealth management services for both companies and individuals, it was AAFCPAs’ commitment to serving the community that drew her in, and that continues. In addition to giving 10% of its net income to nonprofit organizations, nonprofit volunteering is a core value of the company and a number of employees are active local volunteers.
McCall will take over as chair of the American Institute of CPAs in May.
