In an industry where women of color are vastly underrepresented, Fisher has created her own opportunities by building a full-service construction firm from the ground up.
Encore Boston Harbor hotel and casino in Everett, Polar Park, UMass Chan Medical School’s New Education Research Building, and Courthouse Lofts in Worcester are just some of the more than 1,000 projects her firm has been involved in. Fisher has racked up many impressive awards since starting the firm in 1998, including being named the 2011 U.S. Small Business Administration's Person of the Year for New England.
Fisher doesn’t just construct buildings, she constructs opportunities for other women to follow her path into the industry through providing job opportunities to help them break into the male-dominated space.
She sits on several prominent boards, including the The Black Economic Council of Massachusetts and the Associated Subcontractors of Massachusetts. She is the chair of the board of director for the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce. Her proudest moment as a leader comes from standing on the job site, watching as a number of other trail-blazing women union workers slowly change the face of the industry.
