Power leads operations at Mirick, a 110-year-old law firm and the largest full-service law practice in Central Massachusetts. The firm has 70 attorneys, most of whom are highly engaged with their community, serving on boards and supporting local fundraising efforts.

Power has always possessed leadership skills. She said she recently found her kindergarten report card from 58 years ago, in which her teacher Mrs. Allen listed her leadership qualities: confidence, good communication skills, team player, engages well with peers and adults, empathetic, good listener. She said she’s managed people from an early age, and genuinely wants the best for everyone; she feels especially proud when she hears from former colleagues about her impact on their leadership styles.

Last year was a big one for Mirick. Longtime managing partner David Surprenant left his post of 23 years to become chairman, as part of the firm’s succession plan. Paul Carey and Bob Kilroy took over as co-managing partners, and Power, as the longest-tenured leader helping with the transition, said she underestimated just how much work it would be. But now, a year later, with open lines of communication, transparency, and town hall-style luncheons, the new leadership has created a culture of trust and engagement that bodes well for the firm’s future, she said.
