Dunn has been with the venue known as the DCU Center since 1983, when she accepted a position as a receptionist.
Today, she’s in charge of operations at the 14,000-seat arena, the home base of the Worcester Railers Hockey Club and host of events ranging from college graduations to proms to concerts to stand-up comedy shows.
Since Frank Sinatra played there in 1982, the center has hosted dozens of high-profile artists, including Elton John, Andrea Bocelli, and Ariana Grande.
ASM Global, the venue’s management company, has extended its contract with the city of Worcester for 10 years, including a commitment to invest $3.5 million into various upgrades. In the past year, seating and telescopic riser replacements were completed for $6.5 million, and the arena’s sound system was replaced for $3 million, Dunn said. The DCU Center drives more than $46 million in economic impact to the region annually, according to a study commissioned by the center and its naming-rights sponsor: Digital Federal Credit Union.
The best moments at the DCU Center, Dunn said, are always at the end of an event when the team convenes to celebrate hosting nearly 15,000 people.
