40 Under Forty 2019: Julie Davenport

Julie Davenport, 31

Construction project manager

Cutler Associates, Inc., Worcester

Residence: Paxton

Birthplace: Worcester

Colleges: Fitchburg State University & UMass Amherst

Davenport is the only woman project manager at Cutler, a point of pride for the career construction leader. Her first job fresh out of college in 2010 was at Francis Harvey & Sons in Worcester as an assistant project manager and assistant estimator. She was hired as an assistant project manager at Cutler and given the opportunity to run her own projects, resulting in her promotion to project manager in October 2016. Since then, she has continually impressed her mostly male colleagues with her work ethic, command of projects and knowledge of the industry. Several of her projects have resulted in higher-than-expected profits, leading to those clients coming back to Cutler. That work ethic, fearlessness and influence in a male-dominated industry led her to be honored with a Women in Construction award by Constructech Magazine in 2017. Davenport’s community involvement began in 2014, when she joined the Young Professional Women’s Association of Worcester, which brought her to volunteer at events with Andy’s Attic and Abby’s House. She joined the board in 2016 and helped double the community-based events each year, including serving a four-course meal around Thanksgiving at Veterans Inc. – Profile written by Zachary Comeau
