Since winning 40 Under Forty, Lacombe has risen to senior executive producer. That’s after filling a variety of roles at the station since 2000, including producer, anchor, host, reporter and supervisor. Since being promoted, he’s helped grow Worcester News Tonight’s 30-minute newscasts by replacing NECN anchors with local anchors for the 6 p.m. newscast and adding new content segments to the 10 p.m. newscasts. He’s earned 10 New England Cable and Telecommunications Awards and is a three-time winner of the Telly Awards for news and sports coverage. Lacombe has been honored by the Worcester Area College Basketball Association with the Paul N. Johnson Award, for his contributions to the region’s basketball efforts. He taught social media journalism and broadcast journalism classes at Assumption College in Worcester. He co-hosts the “Friday Night Football Frenzy” and serves as an analyst for the station’s broadcasts of Worcester Bravehearts baseball, Holy Cross football and high school football game of the week. – Z.C.

What advice do you have for this year’s winners? Be proud of what you do. The work isn't always easy, but being recognized by the WBJ should reinforce to you this: You are making an impact on people around you and the Worcester area.
