The state's biggest business association has released its 2007-2008 legislative scorecard, and the senators and representatives from Central Massachusetts - like those from the rest of the state - generally got poor marks.
The Associated Industries of Massachusetts decried the passage of bills it said would increase corporate taxes and add new assessments for health care, as well as a bill requiring a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. It praised a successful bill freezing unemployment insurance rates for 2008 and cheered the failure of one that would have allowed for the banning of certain chemicals in manufacturing.
Based on their votes on those bills and several others, AIM gave all but one Central Massachusetts senator a rating of 44 percent positive. The only senate Republican in the region, Sen. Scott Brown of Wrentham, got a better score, with 67 percent.
Scores for the region's state representatives were also split along party lines. The six Republicans all received scores of 88 percent, while the Democrats' scores ranged from 38 percent to 57 percent.
