Renewable energy company Ameresco, based in Framingham, has completed a building renovation project at Shaw’s Center in Brockton, making way for the facility to be used as a COVID-19 testing and vaccination center, the company announced on Monday.

The testing and vaccine center will be run by the Brockton Neighborhood Health Center, which has been conducting its testing in trailers in the parking lot of Campanelli Stadium. The project’s funding was provided to the City of Brockton through the $2.2-trillion federal CARES Act of 2020.

The renovations, which exceeded $1 million, included installing a new roof, replacing seven rooftop units and two air-handling units, lighting retrofits, insulation improvements, transformer replacements and more, according to Ameresco.

“Our team has worked diligently to see this renovation project to completion in accordance with its accelerated schedule,” said David Anderson, executive vice president and director of Ameresco, in a statement. “We worked closely with the City of Brockton to ensure that we partnered with local Brockton and regional contractors, whenever possible, to keep project investments close to home."

The Shaw’s Center officially reopened on Wednesday.
