American Airlines will once again be offering daily flights to Philadelphia from Worcester Regional Airport starting July 5, as the airline has decided to replace its daily flights to New York City’s John F. Kennedy International Airport with service to Pennsylvania’s largest city.

Flights to Philadelphia International Airport will be available for booking starting on Monday, according to a Friday press release from the Massachusetts Port Authority, which owns and operates the airport.

American previously started offering flights to Philadelphia in April 2018 but announced it was ending the service in November 2021, replacing that flight with one to JFK Airport in New York City.

Destinations that Worcester flyers could continue on to from Philadelphia include Miami, multiple airports in Texas, and international destinations which include Dublin and Amsterdam.

With the cancellation of American’s flights to JFK, flyers looking to head to New York City from ORH will still be able to use Delta Air Lines’ daily service to LaGuardia Airport.

With the return of the Philadelphia flights, ORH now once again serves five daily destinations: Philadelphia, New York City, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, and Fort Myers via the three airlines of American, Delta, and JetBlue Airways.

ORH saw 229,374 passengers in 2024, a 12% increase from 2023 and the highest count since Massport took over ownership of the airport in 2010, according to a January press release from the independent public authority tasked with managing three airports in the state and the Port of Boston.
