Area Student Game Developers Recognized

Student game developers from Worcester's Becker College, UMass Medical School, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute were recognized for their product pitches at the second annual MassDigI Game Challenge on March 2.

The competition, organized by the Massachusetts Digital Games Institute (MassDiGI) at Becker College, allowed independent and student game entrepreneurs to showcase their ideas and products at the Microsoft New England Research and Development Center in Cambridge.

According to MassDiGI, Play Nimbus, a team from Becker College, was the Best Student Entertainment Game winner. A team from UMass Medical School won Best Student Serious Game for its product, Small Victims, while teams from WPI and Becker College won runner-up and honorable mention awards.

"It's an exciting time to be a game developer," said Timothy Loew, executive director of MassDiGI. "And the Game Challenge shines a spotlight on that excitement."
