Cybex International, the Medway-based manufacturer of exercise equipment, has been named the official fitness equipment partner for the NBC television show "The Biggest Loser."
The show, in its 10th season, has contestants compete with one another to lose weight. Show producers will replace all of the exercise equipment with about 60 Cybex Arc Trainers.
The company inked a multi-year deal with the show for an undisclosed amount. The show, which draws more than 10 million viewers a week, will begin featuring the Cybex equipment on episodes airing in September.
In addition to the Cybex machines being prominently displayed on the show, the company will also introduce a new Biggest Loser Arc Trainer, which is a consumer version of the cardiovascular workout device used on the show.
Cybex reported a $753,000 net loss on $26.1 million in revenues for the first-quarter. Sales were down about 10 percent compared to the first quarter of 2009.
