Boston-Power Looks To Electric Vehicle Manufacturers

Boston-Power is targeting its newest line of batteries to electric vehicle manufacturers, which the company said could grow to an $8 billion industry by 2015.

The Westborough-based maker of next-generation lithium ion battery technologies announced today the deployment of Swing Key technology, which is a series of interconnected batteries. It allows electric vehicle manufacturers to use Boston-Power’s swing cells.

The Saab 9-3 ePower vehicle already uses the Boston-Power technology.

Boston-Power has received $185 million in venture capital since the company was founded in 2005. The latest financing round came in June 2010 when it received $60 million.
