Marlborough medical device company Boston Scientific finalized its acquisition of Quebec-based Baylis Medical Co. Inc. on Tuesday.

Baylis specializes in advanced transseptal access solutions, guidewires, sheaths, and dilators used to support catheter-based left-heart procedures, per the press release.

The transaction consists of an upfront payment of $1.75 billion and is expected to add approximately one cent to adjusted earnings per share in 2022 and increasingly accretive thereafter, according to Boston Scientific.

The acquisition would expand Boston Scientific's product offerings, especially among its existing electrophysiology and structural heart segments.

"We are now the only company to pair a comprehensive access portfolio with existing left-heart therapies such as left atrial appendage closure and atrial fibrillation ablation, providing physicians with a complete toolbox to treat patients with safety, efficacy, and efficiency," said Joseph Fitzgerald, executive vice president and president of cardiology at Boston Scientific, in the press release announcing the deal.
