As the Worcester Bravehearts prepare to start the 2024 season, the team has inked a lease renewal to see them stay at the College of the Holy Cross’ Fitton Field in Worcester through the 2027 season.
“This is the home of the Bravehearts,” Matt Vaccaro, team president, said in a press release issued Wednesday. “We’re excited to stay at Holy Cross for the next four years, with options to renew. We are committed to working with the college in promoting athletics, education, and providing a great atmosphere for all Bravehearts fans.”
Vacaro took over as team president when members of his family purchased the team in February from former owner John Creedon Jr.
The Bravehearts begin their 2024 campaign May 24 on the road against the Westfield Starfires, with their first home game slated against the Starfires on May 25. The team announced in February all-single game tickets for the 2024 season cost $20 and include all-you-can-eat hot dogs, burgers, chicken nuggets, sausages, and soft drinks, among other menu items.
This price represents an increase over some ticket prices seen in previous seasons, where prices varied by section. For comparison, Worcester Red Sox single game tickets range from $9 to $45.
The team cited a desire to allow fans to know exactly how much they are spending without worrying about secondary costs as one reason for the change.
The Bravehearts play in The Futures League, a summer baseball league headquartered in Weymouth giving collegiate players the opportunity to gain more experience in an attempt to attract attention from professional scouts.
The Bravehearts have called Fitton Field home since the team’s founding in 2014, with the exception of the 2020, when the team temporarily relocated to Leominster during the COVID-impacted season.
