Commonwealth Medicine, the consulting arm of UMass Chan Medical School in Worcester, announced Tuesday its new name.

The school’s division will now be known as ForHealth Consulting at UMass Chan Medical School, and the decision aims to more clearly associate the consulting services with the medical school and its reputation, according to a Tuesday announcement from the school.

ForHealth Consulting will continue Commonwealth Medicine’s operations and partnerships with clients statewide and nationally. The new name intends to underscore the consulting division's connection to the medical school and align more closely with its mission.

“This exciting announcement from ForHealth Consulting aligns with our strategic plans for business growth and will increase our brand awareness in the healthcare consulting marketplace,” Dr. Michael Collins, chancellor at UMass Chan, said in the press release. “Our consultants do difficult and important work, often behind the scenes, to improve the health care experience for all, and this new name really speaks to that commitment and to our overall mission of public service at UMass Chan.”

The rebranding comes after the division created a new role to focus on healthcare inequities.

“Our new name, ForHealth Consulting, clearly articulates our mission, our relationship with UMass Chan, and how we support our clients and the people they serve by improving the health care experience – from payment and financing to clinical practice and information management,” Lisa Colombo, executive vice chancellor for the newly-named ForHealth Consulting, said in the press release.

ForHealth Consulting has approximately 1,100 employees and provides services and partnerships in more than 25 states, including state Medicaid agencies.
