DCU Center management company to be sold to Yankees-Cowboys venture

Photo | Grant Welker The DCU Center is city-owned, and operated under a management contract with the firm ASM Global.

Legends Hospitality, a New York-based company and a joint venture of the ownership of the New York Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys, plans to purchase California-based ASM Global, the company operating Worcester’s DCU Center.

The transaction, announced in a Tuesday press release, will see Legends acquire AEM and its global portfolio of live event entertainment venues and management contracts.

“We’re thrilled to join Legends, which shares our client-first approach and advances our goal of offering our partner organizations a truly seamless experience while driving the growth of their businesses,” Ron Bension, president and CEO of ASM Global, said in the press release.

ASM will continue to serve existing venues like the DCU Center, according to the press release. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

First opening its doors in September 1982, the DCU Center is owned by the City of Worcester. The facility undertook renovations this summer, including the replacement of all the arena’s seats.
