The founder of Framingham-based healthcare commercial intelligence firm Definitive Healthcare is back at the helm of the company on an interim basis, following the resignation of CEO and board member Robert Musslewhite.

The company announced Musslewhite’s resignation via a press release issued on Tuesday. Musslewhite first became CEO of the company in August 2022. Founder Jason Krantz will take over as interim CEO as the company works with an executive search firm to identify a permanent replacement.

“It has been a privilege to lead a company as exceptional as Definitive Healthcare,” Musslewhite said in the press release. “I look forward to closely following the future success of Definitive Healthcare and wish Jason [Krantz], the Board and the entire team all the best.”

The 13-year-old company underwent a number of changes in 2023, including two rounds of employee layoffs and the purchase of Connecticut healthcare provider analytics firm Populi. The company named a new chief revenue officer in October.

"We sincerely thank Robert for his contributions to Definitive Healthcare and for laying the foundation for the next phase of growth for the business,” Krantz said in the statement. “The board remains focused on Definitive Healthcare reaching its full potential and will work to ensure this transition is smooth while we undertake the search process.”

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that Musslewhite became Definitive Healthcare's CEO in May 2022. The announcement was made in May 2022, but Musslewhite became CEO effective Aug. 1, 2022.
