The Tuesday's location will close, although no specific date has been set. "We're much more concerned at the moment with the transition," Morneault said. "It's going to be bigger than the sum of its parts. We're going to create a whole new paradigm here in the store."
Tuesday's will run a moving sale from Nov. 1 through 17 and will then begin moving from the 1,000-square-foot facility into Stackpole's 10,000 square feet. Morneault, who owns the current Tuesday's location at 257 Asylum Street and is president of Business for Downtown Hartford, would not disclose the terms of the purchase and has not yet found any future tenants for the space. "We're trying to look for a mercantile tenant there," he said.
Although he hasn't ruled any business out, he is particularly interested in a ladies' shoe store taking Tuesday's place. "That's a void in the market," he said.
