A seven-acre lot on Upton Street in Grafton, which formerly housed the town’s department of public works, is set to become a mixed-use 136-unit luxury apartment complex, according to Grafton’s town website.
GSX Ventures, a Maryland development firm with complexes in Hudson and Amherst, submitted a plan to the Grafton Planning Board after the town issued a request for proposals for the property in September.
The town administrator was authorized to award the request for proposals to GSX at Tuesday’s public meeting, said Grafton Town Planner Christopher McGoldrick in a phone interview, marking the first step toward public approval for construction.
News of the development was first reported by the Grafton Common.
Featured in the plans is a beer garden, retail space, a fitness center, and a central courtyard, along with the apartment units, 10% of which will be designated affordable housing.
Currently, two buildings sit on the property at 17 and 27 Upton St., which are assessed by the Town of Grafton at $377,700 and $286,500, respectively.
