Framingham launches accelerated outdoor seating applications for restaurants

The City of Framingham has launched an accelerated application process for restaurants seeking temporary outdoor seating as the Massachusetts economy phases in its reopening, with outdoor seating the only option for restaurants right now.

The temporary outdoor seating application will have no fee, according to a release from the City, with applications reviewed weekly. The application was created to allow restaurants to reopen as quickly as possible during Phase 2 of Gov. Charlie Baker’s reopening plan.

The application allows owners to lay out how they propose to offer food and beverages outside in a manner to meet health and safety requirements. Eating establishments must possess an existing pouring license to serve alcoholic beverages outdoors.

The Framingham Board of License Commissioners will meet weekly in June with applications expected to receive a response within six days.
