Gas Prices Have First Drop Since July

After reaching a record-high for September last week, gas prices have retreated a bit, falling 7 cents over the past week, according to AAA Southern New England. It’s the first price drop since July.

In its weekly report of gas prices, AAA said the average price of self-serve, regular unleaded in Massachusetts is $3.83 per gallon. Prices are up 10 cents over the month and the average is 3 cents above the national average. The range in prices is 42 cents, from a low of $3.57 to a high of $3.99.

A year ago, the average in the Bay State was $3.55 per gallon.

The price of diesel dropped a penny, to $4.10.
