Genzyme Buys Framingham Site

Genzyme Corp., the Cambridge-based biotech giant that has major operations in MetroWest, has purchased a 62,666 square-foot industrial building on California Avenue in Framingham, according to real estate tracking firm CoStar.

Genzyme, which has been leasing the site, purchased the 4.7 acre parcel from Colombia Electric, according to CoStar.

The property, which is located within the Framingham Technology Park, sold for $8.1 million, or about $129 per square foot, according to CoStar. Genzyme has hundreds of thousands of square feet of additional property - both owned and leased - in the Technology Park.
