The Worcester nonprofit Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts is under new leadership, as Theresa Lynn has been named the next CEO of the organization.

The appointment of Lynn, who most recently served as the senior vice president of the United Way of Central Massachusetts in Worcester, was announced in a press release issued Tuesday by the Girl Scouts. Her first day in the role was Monday.

“I’ve long been a fan of Girl Scouts’ legacy experiences – from outdoor adventure to the iconic cookie program – and an admirer of the cutting-edge STEM initiatives that create one-of-a-kind experiences,” Lynn said in the press release. “I’m thrilled for the opportunity to join Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts and work alongside the staff, adult volunteers, and community supporters who are deeply committed to serving today’s members in exciting, future-focused ways because the need for female leadership has never been greater.”

Lynn replaces Pattie Hallberg as CEO of the organization, which represents 186 communities across Central and Western Massachusetts. Hallberg served in the role from 2007 until December 2023.

Lynn serves as a board member for the Worcester Education Collaborative and the BioBuilder Education Foundation in Newton. She holds a master’s degree in public administration from Harvard Kennedy School in Cambridge, an MBA from Boston University, and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the College of Holy Cross in Worcester.
