The Hanover Theatre and Conservatory for the Performing Arts has fully assumed management and programming of the Jean McDonough Arts Center in Worcester.
The move will see The Hanover Theatre take over management from the Worcester Cultural Coalition, a public-private partnership between the City of Worcester and 80 local art-focused organizations.
The change in control was made following votes of approval last year of the boards of both the Hanover and WCC, according to a Monday press release announcing the move.
“This is an exciting next phase for the JMAC, and we are committed to continuing its mission of presenting a wide range of arts, culture, and events to audiences from our community.” Alan Seiffert, president and CEO of The Hanover Theatre and Conservatory, said in the press release.
Seiffert took over the role of president and CEO in January after being named to the role in November. He replaced longtime leader Troy Siebels, who had been with the organization since 2004 before he announced his resignation from leadership in June 2024. He remains with The Hanover Theatre as its mainstage artistic director and vice president of programming.
JMAC first opened in 2020. Located at 20 Franklin St. and a short walk away from The Hanover Theatre, 88 different organizations and 400 individual artists utilized the space in 2024, according to the press release. The venue includes the BrickBox Theater and a space for popup art exhibitions and other events.
CLARIFICATION: This article has been updated to clarify Troy Siebels resigned from his role as president and CEO, but remained with The Hanover Theatre in another capacity.
