Gasoline prices in Worcester County have climbed within the past week, averaging $3.11 per gallon on Tuesday, but still below the national average of $3.19.

Gas in Worcester County has risen 5 cents from last week’s price of $3.06 following Labor Day weekend and stronger demands, according to the travel association AAA Northeast.

Further east, gas prices in the Cambridge-Newton-Framingham metro area sit at $3.16, up from $3.11 a week ago.

“Prices could wobble in the coming weeks based on weekly supply and demand data and as refineries start to undergo seasonal maintenance in earnest,” Mark Schieldrop, senior spokesperson for AAA Northeast, said in a Monday press release.

The national average remains the same as last week, averaging at $3.19 per gallon. The national average has remained steady over the last few weeks due to the ease of short-term price spikes from flood-related production dilemmas at BP’s Whiting refinery in Indiana.

Massachusetts sits in the middle of the pack in terms of prices, having the 26th lowest state average.
